This year’s fun or gimmick rallye will start outside the hotel and cover about 70 miles before returning back to the host hotel.  For the uninitiated, Gimmick rallies are like a scavenger hunt in your car.  Participants are given driving directions and interspersed are questions that are to be answered by what you see along the way.

Aside from the beautiful North Texas country roads, there are many historical locations in this area. As the title indicates, you will be visiting several of these sights while you enjoy a 2 to 3 hour drive.

North Texas Regional Airport, Airport Drive, Denison, TX, United States

North Texas Regional Airport, Airport Drive, Denison, TX, United States

The Le Mans start is a short distance timed event meant to be fun, but taken very seriously by a die-hard set amongst the VTR. You are timed from a starting line which is a short distance from your car. You run (or walk) to your car, get in, start your car and drive it a short distance to the finish. Shortest time wins.

To add to the fun for observers, we have added a new/old wrinkle. You can enter in either the “Lucas” or the “Armstrong” category so bring your starting handles if you plan to enter the “Armstrong” category. This is a Triumph engine powered car event for awards, but any car can be used for fun. Photos will be taken.

    8:00 am-2:30 pm
    10-06-2016

North Texas Regional Airport, Airport Drive, Denison, TX, United States

North Texas Regional Airport, Airport Drive, Denison, TX, United States

Test your Triumph’s speed and your driving skills on our autocross course.

The day will be long and everybody driving will also be pulling a work assignment. You may be protecting onlookers from wandering onto the course (or protecting the course from wanderers), rescuing and re-setting cones, calling in penalties or many other jobs that help the event run smoothly. These will be assigned ahead of time and you MUST work for your run times to count. If you don’t check in for your work assignment, your times will be disqualified. If you’re driving in the first heat, you’ll be working the second heat and vice versa (unless you’ve been assigned to setup at the beginning of the day or clean-up at the end of the day).

For the course walk-through, we’d recommend as many walk-throughs as possible to cement the layout in your mind before you attempt to drive it. A guided walk-through with hints and suggestions will also be done around 8:45 for those interested. This is a good time for questions about the course.

After the walk-through is a MANDATORY drivers’ meeting at 9am. There’s lots of information in this meeting and if you don’t understand something, feel free to ask questions during the meeting.

Feel free to bring your own food and drinks but ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL IS PERMITTED AT THE EVENT!

The Equipe Rapide club will be taking care of timing and scoring for us. Along with the times shown at the finish line, live timing will be posted to their website at erlive.autocross.com, which you can check from your cell phone.
